Anyone who wants to stay independent can run FolderHost on their own hardware and connect it to the storage and containers they already use.
FolderHost ships as a 19 MB Go binary that runs on Linux, Windows, macOS or FreeBSD with minimal RAM and CPU. It supports ZFS, Btrfs, NFS, S3-compatible, SMB/CIFS and iSCSI storage, deploys via bare-metal installer, Docker Compose or Kubernetes Helm chart, and includes role-based access control, end-to-end encryption and audit logging. Docker containers are pre-integrated and external backup tools connect directly.
FolderHost is a single binary. It's using minimal RAM and CPU. The binary is only around 19 mb. It's written with Go language.
